Mission Bay at dusk

Had a fish and chip supper at Mission Bay on Saturday. Watched the sun go down and took some photos.

Auckland!!!

One of the best views of Auckland City is driving back from the North Shore. All photos were taken while driving over Auckland Harbour Bridge (Zoe was driving while I took the photos).

Dog walking

Had a walk along Takapuna beach yesterday and took some photos of some dogs in action. Something different I suppose.

The Beer Spot. Should you stop?

So friends of mine told me about a craft beer place on Northcote Road, Takapuna called                 The Beer Spot. 40 beers on tap, try a taster, glass or take home. I tried 6 samples and then took home 2 bottles. I ordered the beers in the order they are below but tasted the following beers in lowest alcohol percentage to highest:
Rare Bird: Ruru black IPA by Parrot Dog 7.7% (probably my favourite of the day)
Sunshine Powercut mild dark ale 2.4%
So'phisticuffs by Funk Estate IPA 6%
Behemoth & Deep Creek Ching fresh hop NZ pale ale 6.5%
Pernicious Weed by Garage Project IIPA 8%
TasterDeep Creek Water Mellon Gose 4.6% (this was the only one I won't drink again. It's a dessert beer and did have that water melon taste, but thats just me).

I took home:
Belle Irish Red Ale 4.6%
American Amber Ale by Hop Federation 4.5%

Very friendly staff who were all excited about beer and knew a lot. Pizza was available if required, or maybe a hair cut if you fancy it after a beer. Great place. Definitely worth checking out.

Lest we Forget

Monday 25th April was ANZAC day in New Zealand and Australia, where we remember those who lost their lives protecting our freedom and futures. Normally I have attended a dawn service at Auckland Domain which is one of the biggest services in New Zealand. This is as we were camping in Waipu we attended a mid morning parade and ceremony. Smaller and more personal. Every name who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars was read out. These are some of the photos I took.

Bike Polo anyone?

After work today I had a beer at No.1 cafe (where you can get a great coffee in the morning, and awesome craft beer in the evening) when I saw the below happening.
Background: the maintenance work has just started on Auckland's Central Rail Link and the bus area has temporarily been turned into a pedestrian area. Some clever guys decided to use part of the area as a polo field. Check them out below.
